A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

We are currently carrying out finishing works for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 9pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

For this week, the planned closures are:

Full closures
Saturday 24 8am to 5pm (TBC)
• B1514 Brampton Road between station car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Sunday 25 (one night)
• A14 eastbound between Godmanchester junction 23 and Swavesey junction 24
Vehicles will be diverted to exit the A14 at junction 23, travel north on the A1198 and east on the A1307 to re-join the A14 at Swavesey junction 24
• A14 westbound between Swavesey junction 24b and Godmanchester junction 23
Vehicles will be diverted to exit the A14 at junction 24b, west on the A1307 to Godmanchester and south on the A1198 to re-join the A14 westbound at junction 23

• Cambridge Road, Fen Drayton at its junction with A1307 eastbound
Vehicles in Fen Drayton will be diverted via Swavesey Road, Rose & Crown Road and Buckingway Road to the A1307 at Swavesey. Vehicles on the A1307 eastbound will be directed to continue on the A1307 eastbound to Swavesey and via Buckingway Road, Rose & Crown Road and Swavesey Road for access to Fen Drayton

Saturday 20 8am to Sunday 21 8am (24 hours)
• B1514 Brampton Road between station car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 (two nights)
• M11 northbound junction 14 exit slip (M11 northbound to A14 eastbound)
Vehicles will be diverted to continue on the A14 westbound to Bar Hill junction 25 and return on the eastbound carriageway

• Cambridge Road, Fen Drayton at its junction with A1307 eastbound
Vehicles in Fen Drayton will be diverted via Swavesey Road, Rose & Crown Road and Buckingway Road to the A1307 at Swavesey. Vehicles on the A1307 eastbound will be directed to continue on the A1307 eastbound to Swavesey and via Buckingway Road, Rose & Crown Road and Swavesey Road for access to Fen Drayton

Monday 1 to Thursday 4 (four nights)
• B1514 Brampton Road between station car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Friday 5 9pm to Sunday 7 8am (35 hours)

Monday 22 to Friday 26 (five nights)

• Hinchingbrooke Park Road loop
Vehicles wishing to travel towards Brampton will be diverted via Huntingdon Ring Road and then back along the B1514 Brampton Road.
Vehicles travelling from Huntingdon will be diverted to continue on B1514 Brampton Road westbound to the roundabout and return eastbound to then turn left into Hinchingbrooke Park Road

Thursday 25 February 8am to Friday 12 March 6pm
• Cambridge Road, Fen Drayton at its junction with A1307 eastbound
Vehicles in Fen Drayton will be diverted via Swavesey Road, Rose & Crown Road and Buckingway Road to the A1307 at Swavesey. Vehicles on the A1307 eastbound will be directed to continue on the A1307 eastbound to Swavesey and via Buckingway Road, Rose & Crown Road and Swavesey Road for access to Fen Drayton

Saturday 27 February 7am to Monday 1 March 6am (47 hours)
• A1198 north and south bound between the A14 Godmanchester junction 23 dumbbell roundabouts
Vehicles on the north side of the A1198 closure will be diverted east on the A1307 to Swavesey. From here drivers can access the A14 westbound or can continue onto the A14 eastbound to Histon junction 32, exit and return on the A14 westbound for access to the A428
Vehicles on the south side of the A1198 closure will be diverted east on the A428 at Caxton Gibbet to Histon junction 32, exit and return on the A14 westbound to Swavesey junction 24 and exit for the A1307
• A14 eastbound Godmanchester junction 23 eastbound exit slip
Vehicles will be diverted to continue on the A14 eastbound to Swavesey junction 24 and exit here for access to the A1307
• A14 westbound Godmanchester junction 23 westbound entry slip
Vehicles from the north of the A1198 will be diverted east on A1307 to Swavesey to access the A14 westbound via Swavesey junction 24

Saturday 27 8am to 5pm
• B1514 Brampton Road between station car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

A1307 – Overnight works rescheduled for 17 December

Dear All

Unfortunately we had to cancel our white lining works last night on the A1307, however the work has now been re-scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 17th. Please see below new timings for the closures of the A1307:

8pm – 9.30pm A1307 both directions between Dry Drayton roundabout and Girton roundabout /A14 westbound entry slip

9.30pm – 10.30pm Dry Drayton overbridge southbound between Oakington roundabout and Dry Drayton roundabout

10.30pm – 12am A1307 both directions between Bar Hill jug handle and Oakington roundabout

12am – 2am A1307 both directions between Buckingway roundabout and Bar Hill jug handle (Lolworth residents will be escorted to and from Buckingway roundabout)

A1307 – Overnight works 14 – 15 December

Next week, over 2 nights we will be undertaking white lining works along the A1307. We will be working across 4 stretches of the road on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th. Please see below for details of locations, timings and the diversion routes.

Monday 14th

  •  9pm – 6am A1307 outbound from Girton College, Huntingdon Road to the first roundabout under the M11 roundabout (surfacing works)

Diversion via B1049 to Histon junction 32 and the A14

  • 8pm – 2am A1307 both directions between Dry Drayton roundabout and Girton roundabout /A14 westbound entry slip

Diversion via A14 to Bar Hill junction 25 for access to the A1307

  • 2am – 6am Dry Drayton overbridge southbound between Oakington roundabout and Dry Drayton roundabout

Diversion via A1307 to Bar Hill junction 25 and A14 to exit for A1307 at Girton junction 31

 

Tuesday 15th

  • 8pm – 11pm A1307 both directions between Buckingway roundabout, Swavesey and Bar Hill jug handle

Diversion via A14 between Swavesey junction 24 and Bar Hill junction 25. Lolworth residents will be escorted to and from Buckingway roundabout

 

  • 11pm – 5am A1307 both directions between Bar Hill jug handle and Oakington roundabout

Diversion via A1307 and A14 between Bar Hill junction 25 and Girton junction 31

For this week, the planned closures are:

Monday 14 to Friday 18 (five nights)
• B1514 Brampton Road between Ring&Go car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, Ermine Street B1044 to Spittals roundabout, A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.
• Hinchingbrooke Park Road loop
Vehicles will be diverted via the temporary right turn onto Brampton Road

Monday 14 to Tuesday 15 (two nights)
• A1307 westbound between St Ives and Godmanchester
Vehicles will be diverted east on A1307 to Swavesey and onto the A14 westbound at junction 24, exit at Brampton Interchange junction 22 onto A1 northbound to Brampton Hut roundabout. From here, return south on the A1 and onto the A14 eastbound at Brampton Interchange and exit at junction 23 onto the A1198

Monday 14 (one night)
• A1307 outbound from Girton College, Huntingdon Road to the first roundabout under the M11 roundabout
Vehicles will be diverted via the B1049 to Histon junction 32 and the A14
• A1307 both directions between Dry Drayton roundabout and Girton roundabout /A14 westbound entry slip 8pm – 2am
Vehicles will be diverted via the A14 to Bar Hill junction 25 for access to the A1307 into Cambridge.
• Dry Drayton overbridge southbound between Oakington roundabout and Dry Drayton roundabout 2am – 6am
Vehicles will be diverted via A1307 to Bar Hill junction 25 and A14 to exit for A1307 at Girton junction 31

Tuesday 15 (one night)
• A1307 both directions between Buckingway roundabout, Swavesey and Bar Hill jug handle 8pm – 11pm
Vehicles will be diverted via the A14 between Swavesey junction 24 and Bar Hill junction 25. Lolworth residents will be escorted to and from Buckingway roundabout
• A1307 both directions between Bar Hill jug handle and Oakington roundabout 11pm – 5am
Vehicles will be diverted via the A1307 and A14 between Bar Hill junction 25 and Girton junction 31

Friday 18 (one night)
• A14 eastbound between Godmanchester junction 23 and Swavesey junction 24
Vehicles will be diverted onto A1198 northbound and A1307 eastbound to rejoin the A14 at Swavesey junction 24
• A14 westbound between Swavesey junction 24b and New Ellington junction 21
Vehicles will be diverted onto A1307 to Godmanchester, south on A1198, west on A428, and north on the A1 to re-join the A14 via Brampton Hut

A1307 Godmanchester to Fenstanton resurfacing

We are posting to inform you that Highways England will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on the A1307 in both directions between the above locations.

They plan to complete this work for five weeks from Monday 16 November to Wednesday 16 December, on weeknights only, working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.

Due to works taking place both eastbound and westbound, their works have been split into three phases which are detailed below.

Phase 1: A1307 eastbound Pathfinder Link Road to Godmanchester, starting Monday 16 November to Wednesday 25 November (10 nights)

• Eastbound traffic travelling from Pathfinder Link Road will be diverted via, B1514/ Walden Road, Ermine Street /B1044, A141 to Brampton Hut Interchange, before joining the A1 southbound to join the A14 eastbound. Leave the A14 eastbound at junction 23 to travel on the A1198 into Godmanchester.

Phase 2: A1307 eastbound Godmanchester to St Ives, starting Monday 23 November to Saturday 12 December (2 weeks)

• Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A1307 onto the A1198, then A428 eastbound before rejoining the A14 at Girton.

Phase 3: A1307 westbound from St Ives to Godmanchester, starting Monday 14 December to Tuesday 16 December (2 nights)

• Westbound traffic will be diverted from the St Ives Roundabout via Cambridge Road towards Cambridge Services, to then join the A14 westbound. Follow the A14 westbound before merging onto the A1 towards the Brampton Hut Interchange, at the interchange take the A1 southbound exit before rejoining the A14 eastbound until junction 23 and follow the A1198 to re-join the A1307.

• A14 westbound Six Mile Bottom junction 36 to Girton junction 31
Vehicles will be diverted via A11 southbound, A505 westbound and M11 northbound to re-join the A14

Tuesday 27 (one night)

• A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound Milton junction 33
Vehicles will be diverted via A1303 eastbound, M11 southbound, A505 eastbound and A11 northbound to re-join the A14 at junction 36. Non-motorway traffic will be diverted through Cambridge

Wednesday 28 (one night)
• A1307 eastbound between Fenstanton and Buckingway roundabout, Swavesey
Vehicles will be diverted west on A1307 to Godmanchester, A1198 southbound and then east on the A428 at Caxton Gibbet

Wednesday 28 (one night)
Contingency closure Thursday 29 (one night)
• M11 northbound junction 13 to A14 westbound Swavesey junction 24b
Vehicles will be diverted via A1303 westbound to the A428 and northbound on A1198 at Caxton Gibbet to re-join the A14 westbound at Godmanchester junction 23

Thursday 29 to Friday 30 (two nights)
• A14 eastbound Godmanchester/A1198 junction 23 to Girton junction 31
Vehicles will be diverted south on the A1198 and eats on the A428 at Caxton Gibbet to re-join the A14 or to join the M11

Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November (two nights)
• A14 eastbound New Ellington junction 21 to Swavesey junction 24
Vehicles will be diverted to exit the A14 at New Ellington onto the A141 to Brampton Hut roundabout, south on the A1 to Wyboston and then onto the A428 eastbound to re-join the A14 at Girton junction 31
• A1 southbound to A14 eastbound Brampton Interchange junction 22
Vehicles will be dverted to continue south on the A1 to Wyboston and then onto the A428 eastbound to join the A14 at Girton junction 31

Daytime closure of A1307 – Swavesey to Bar Hill

Dear All

I am writing to inform you that on Monday 26 October we have a planned daytime closure of the A1307 between Buckingway Roundabout, Swavesey and the B1050/Bar Hill junction. This closure will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm and is to allow us to undertake final safety inspections of the bridges.

Access for Lolworth and businesses located between the closure points will be via an escort. Please approach the gateman from the Buckingway Roundabout, Swavesey end of the A1307. For residents leaving Bar Hill to travel towards Swavesey please use the main A14.

This closure will only affect this section of the local access road and the A1307 will remain open between the Bar Hill/B1050 junction, Oakington roundabout and Girton Interchange.

Should work be concluded earlier than 3.30pm we will reopen the road.
